John Blackley Architects is a practice established in 1994 following success in a public housing design competition. Our practice continues to strive for design excellence which is recognised by peers but more importantly by clients. 
 
We are involved in all aspects of residential works as well as smaller commercial, industrial and institutional building types. We offer a traditional architectural service from Schematic Design (inception) through to Contract Administration (completion). Our practice involves a tight knit staff team and we have a network of consultants such as structural engineers, landscape architects, etc which enables us to deliver a service which is both personal and professional. We have also not lost sight of what may be over the horizon and to this end we also have established a network of other architects which we are able to quickly form together as a team to handle much larger projects whilst still delivering the same quality service. 
 
Following the establishment of the brief, we work closely and in collaboration with the client to produce well considered freehand sketches which are later refined into 3D computer generated images. Further refinement to the design takes place and ultimately these are converted to detailed and accurate drawings and specifications enabling builders to accurately determine the cost. We have a data base of a number of builders which we use on a regular basis. We visit the construction site on a weekly basis to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the documentation and to monitor cost and time overruns. We work continuously with the client until construction is complete and any defects are rectified. 
 
The director has been a member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects for more than 20 years and is guided by their Code of Ethics, Recommended Fee levels and other essential practice tenets.
